Artificial Intelligence (AI) governance model in Singapore

AI (aka machine learning) is the computing ability to learn from inputs/feedbacks and then respond in order to achieve desired outcomes. In other word, “act like human”.

AI can help in many areas, e.g.

  • Speech recognition
  • Decision making
  • Customer supports, e.g. chat bots
  • Gaming
  • Automation, e.g. driverless cars
  • Logistics and transportation
  • Military
  • Data analytics
  • Medical diagnostics

Singapore forwarded a model framework as guiding principle for AI use and seek input from participants at WEF. This framework is organic and adaptable to future changes. Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data was established and plays an advisory role in collaboration with IMDA.

Courses will be rolled out to help educate the public about AI and how the technology will help rather than replacing jobs (3). E.g. AI for everyone (AI4E) is a 3 hrs free workshop (https://www.aisingapore.org/industryinnovation/ai4e/).
