Singapore aims to produce 30% food need by 2030. This is the 30×30 goal.
Farms are encouraged to apply for the 30×30 Express grant that will defray cost to setup techs and solutions that will help boost their production, esp. farms that produce eggs, leafy veggies, and fish.
The grant was opened in 17 Apr 2020 and closed on 29 May 2020. 40 proposals were received. Criteria for award were the following: certainty & speed of implementation, production level (productivity), project feasibility and economic viability, and track record, capability and capacity to execute the project. The last one is more challenging for new firms. List of awardees (ref. 1).
Other fund, e.g. Agriculture Productivity Fund (ARF) ad Enterprise Singapore, helps modernize and innovate farming systems.
Awardees’ solutions: robotic system, solar power, automated movable gutter system, supplemented LED lighting, remote monitoring and control, climate control (controlled environment), efficient space usage, process chain, vertical system, hydroponic, ActivH2O water treatment system (to reduce microbe contamination), high density production, nutrient and water efficient.
